onPageFinished behaves inconsistent when loading valid urls and invalid urls

In my code, I override onPageFinished() as follows

webView.setWebViewClient(new WebViewClient() {
public void onPageFinished(WebView view, String url) {
Log.d("abc", view.getUrl());
Log.d("abc", url);
}
});

When I load a valid url like https://www.google.com into my WebView, I obtain the following log:

D/abc: https://www.google.com/
D/abc: https://www.google.com/

But when I further load an invalid url like https://nonsense.url, I obtain the following log:

D/abc: https://www.google.com/
D/abc: https://nonsense.url

This means view.getUrl() and url give the same value when WebView loads valid urls but they would give different outputs when WebView loads invalid urls.

I encounter this interesting phenomenon and wonder why. Can someone explain what causes this?
